HP Server Updates for Linux

HP is now providing an online repository for Linux updates of HP ProLiant systems software: RAID Array Configuration Utility (ACU), etc. This is known as the “Software Delivery Repository” (SDR) and is documented at http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/

To get the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) repository working with CentOS 6, try something like the following:

	cd ~ && mkdir hp_sdr && cd hp_sdr
	wget http://downloads.linux.hp.com/SDR/downloads/bootstrap.sh
	chmod +x bootstrap.sh
	./bootstrap.sh SPP -d RHEL
	yum install hpacucli cpqacuxe # array configuration utility
	yum update # update system
	init 6 # reboot to use any new kernel or other pending updates

Some output from random updates:

  • System Management Homepage (smh), to change the default configuration values, type the following at the root prompt:
    • /opt/hp/hpsmh/sbin/smhconfig
  • HP Version Control Agent (vca), please run /opt/hp/vcagent/etc/vcaconfig.sh as ‘root’ user to configure HP Version Control Agent
  • VERY SLOW working on “kmod-cciss” and “kmod-hpsa” for some reason
